Ingredients You Will Need:
Fruit: Naturally sweet and tropical… Frozen banana, mango, and pineapple.
Milk: Coconut milk adds that true tropical taste as if you are drinking a piña colada.
Turmeric: Get the health benefits of turmeric without losing the taste.
Lemon: Lemon juice and zest provide a fresh and zesty taste.
Extras: Grated fresh ginger is a natural soother and spinach boosts this up with vitamins, without an impact on flavor.
Customization & Substitutions:
Fruit: The fruit quantity may be altered according to its availability, e.g. if a pineapple is out of stock so just fill the space with more quantity of mango.
Milk — to tie the dish more to the tropical flavors, but any milk will work.
Tumaric: Use this if you have it and still add the fresh turmeric.
Enjoy the tropical charm of this radiant smoothie, and adapt to your taste and ingredient availability!
Smoothie-Making Tips:
Use these tips to make a foolproof tropical turmeric smoothie:
- Use Frozen Fruit
Use frozen fruit to keep your smoothie cold and hearty. Ice will not blend as great as frozen fruit so frozen fruit is preferred.
Check the consistency, if your only option is fresh fruit use 1 cup of frozen cauliflower.
-
Add Liquid
All of the above should blend easily, but if your smoothie is thick and sailing in the blender, adding a bit more liquid won’t hurt a bit.
Add more coconut milk if you are not using a high-powered blender that can easily deal with frozen fruits.
-
Gradual Blending
Start blending on a slow speed until the fruits and kale are finely chopped, then increase to high to blend into a smoothie. Finish this with a low-speed blender.
Ingredients:
– 1 frozen ripe banana
– 3/4 cup frozen diced mango
– 3/4 cup frozen pineapple chunks
– 1 1/4 cup light coconut milk, plus extra for thinning if needed
– 1 tablespoon freshly grated turmeric (or 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric)
– 1 teaspoon lemon zest
– 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Optional add-ins:
– 1-2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
– 1 cup spinach
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender: banana, mango, pineapple, coconut milk, turmeric, ginger (if using), lemon zest and juice. Stir in any optional add-ins, if using.
- Process until smooth and if you want a looser mixture, add more milk.
- Pour into tall glasses and enjoy this tropical goodness! I make this serving for 1, but no hesitation to double the ingredients so that 2 could eat it.
