I’m a huge fan of smoothie bowls, and while I tend to make them more often during the summer, let’s be honest—I enjoy them year-round! This strawberry kiwi smoothie bowl is my latest creation, inspired by the peak of strawberry season here in New York.

One surprising thing about this smoothie bowl is its color. Despite the kiwi, it doesn’t turn green! If you look closely, though, you’ll spot the tiny kiwi seeds, adding a bit of extra fiber to your bowl.  I hope you enjoy this refreshing and nutritious treat!

How to Make a Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie Bowl

This smoothie bowl is a breeze to whip up! Here’s how I do it:

Step 1: Prep Your Kiwi

Start by peeling your ripe kiwi. Place them in a bag and freeze them overnight.

Step 2: Blend

The next day, blend together frozen strawberries, frozen kiwi, and a bit of milk. Scoop the mixture into a bowl, and top with fresh strawberries, kiwi, hemp seeds, and coconut flakes. It’s so delicious and simple that I just had to share it with you!

Ask the Dietitian: Are Smoothie Bowls Actually Healthy?

Absolutely! Smoothie bowls are a fantastic way to pack in antioxidants and fiber-rich fruits. They make a great breakfast, snack, or a healthy treat with the texture of sorbet—minus all the added sugar.

Health Benefits of the Ingredients:

  • Strawberries are loaded with powerful antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C.
  • Kiwi is also rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and fiber, making it great for gut health.
  • Milk (depending on your choice) can be an excellent source of protein, vitamin D, calcium, and healthy fats.

Tips for Making a Super Thick Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie Bowl Without Banana

  • Use only frozen fruit! The key to a perfectly thick, sorbet-like smoothie bowl is using only frozen fruit. I save fresh fruit for toppings to avoid a watery texture.
  • Use just a little milk! I add just enough milk to keep my blender from struggling but not so much that it waters down the smoothie. I often use coconut or soy milk, but any milk will do.
  • Eat immediately! Smoothie bowls don’t store well, so make yours and enjoy it right away!

Let’s Make It! Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie Bowl Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen kiwi, peeled
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • ¾ cup milk of choice

Instructions:

Step 1: Add Ingredients to Blender

Start by adding frozen kiwi, frozen strawberries, and your milk of choice to the blender. If you’re using protein powder, add it now.

Step 2: Blend Until Smooth

Begin blending on low, using a tamper to push the frozen fruit down toward the blades. Increase the speed and keep blending until no chunks of frozen fruit remain. If you don’t have a tamper, stop the blender a few times to scrape the fruit down toward the blades.

Step 3: Scoop and Top!

Scoop the smoothie into a bowl, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy! Smoothie bowls are just so easy to make and customize to your liking.

What’s the difference between a smoothie bowl and a smoothie?

A smoothie bowl is made with much less liquid, resulting in a thick texture that you eat with a spoon. A smoothie has more liquid, making it drinkable with a straw.

Just follow the steps above! And if you do like banana, feel free to add one to the base or as a topping.

How do I make a mango kiwi smoothie bowl?
